5 Back-to-School Shopping Tips for Every Student!

What is it going to be this year when choosing your school supplies. Do you go for brand names or no named products when looking for bags and clothing.

Parents whose children are going to school for the first time could benefit from some helpful advice when deciding on which items to buy and where to shop. It is not so much of a problem if your children are going to grade school as you already have some experience.

By following these five tips you will save money and not lose your sanity.

DON'T DELAY

Wait too long and you're sure to find the shelves empty at all your favorite discount stores. If your biggest concern is getting a good deal, shop early.

Dollar stores will be a good place to start for your pens, paper and other items. All of the goods you need will be available from August.

Stationary and office supplies stores will save you time as all of the products will be in stock. They will not be the cheapest but will save time if you are shopping late.

BUY AT BIG BOX STORES

If you have a few friends that need supplies for their kids (or college buddies) consider buying in bulk at membership stores or other bulk stores.

Buy the large discounted packages of pencils, paper and other common supplies divide them up between everyone. You may not find everything you need, but you'll save money on the essentials.

CHECK YOUR SCHOOL

If your school hasn't already brought in a pre-packaged purchasing system, ask. If each class has a standard package then parents and students can split the costs of the bulk order.

Not only will this mean great savings - it also saves you all the hassle of finding supplies, shopping around or dealing with complaints about brands or colors.

SEASONAL SALES

Now's the time to stock up on summer and sport related clothing. If your child will be taking part in after school activities like swimming or gymnastics you can get a great deal on their gear with end-of-season sales.

Look for clothes which can be worn in more than one season. By being a little creative, summer clothes can be work for winter wardrobes as well. Consider that you can pair cropped or Capri pants with boots, you can put warm tights under a skirt, and tank tops can be worn under something warmer like a sweater or long sleeve shirt.

As a note of caution: make sure you're aware of school dress codes when making fashion choices. Some schools forbid bare shoulders or skirts shorter than a required length.

CHOOSING A GOOD BAG

Don't forget the bag! Kids bags are often far too large and heavy for them which leads to sore muscles and even headaches. Always choose a backpack that sits no lower than the waist and look for styles with padded shoulder straps and a waist strap for added support.

Discomfort can be caused by carrying heavy books in hobo bags or slouchy purses. If your kids must use a bag or sac then make sure it is one with a strap that crosses the body to distribute the weight. Ideally heavy books should be carried in a properly work backpack.

A fresh school year brings with it excitement and new opportunities. Don't stress out, and enjoy your back-to-school shopping!
