Shopping In A Shoe Stores

If I tell my husband that my best friend and I are going shopping, he groans. He always reminds me that I have a closet full

of shoes and I don't need anymore. I always assure him that I don't intend to go into any shoe stores and he need not worry.

However, once we arrive at the mall, all we have to do is walk past a shoe store and see that they have shoes on sale, and we

practically race inside. Like most women, I love shoes. I have racks and racks of shoes that I bought and have never worn. I

become incredibly weak when I walk into shoe stores. I am even weaker when I see any evidence that they have shoes on sale. I

try very hard to limit my purchases though and sometimes try to sneak the shoes into the house without my husband seeing me.

He normally does find the empty shoebox or a receipt and questions me. I always tell him that the mall had shoes on sale and

I just had to have them because they match a certain outfit. He just shakes his head.

This past weekend, I once again informed him that I was going shopping and he smiled calmly at me. He said that I was more

than welcome to enter as many shoe stores as I wanted. In fact, he encouraged me to find shoes on sale and get them. As I

stood there, dumbfounded, staring at him, he told me that there was a catch. From now on, anytime that I brought home a pair

of shoes, one old pair had to leave. I could either choose which pair I wanted to rid of or else he would get to choose them

for me. I was in shock. He was actually putting his foot down, and rightfully so. My obsession with shoe stores had gotten way out of control. Once I got to the mall and saw that

once again, my favorite store had shoes on sale, I couldn't resist buying two pairs. I figured that he had just been

bluffing. However, when I arrived home, he greeted me at the door and checked my bags. After seeing that there were two new

pairs, he silently disappeared. When he did resurface, he was holding two pairs of my shoes in his hands.Nice shoes, may I

add. He tossed them in the trashcan. Apparently, he wasn't bluffing.

Since that day, my passion for any and all shoes on sale has diminished somewhat. My husband has tested me to the point of no

return in some of the shoes he's rid of. However, he's fed up with my frequent shoe store trips. I've lost several pairs of

shoes and some of my passion for shoe shopping as well. He's made his point and I've learned that when I see shoes on sale, I

have to keep on walking. If not, I just may lose my walking shoes too.
